South Greenland
A Photographic Journey Through The Southland In Collaboration With Visit South Greenland.
Through fateful meetings I had the amazing gift to photograph South Greenland on my way west from Svalbard.
As you travel into the south the mountain ranges become increasingly more dramatic and at night are draped with green and magenta auroras that feel as though you can reach out and touch them. The spring ice broke off early this year brining unexpected ice flow into the south. With the annual ice comes seals, whales, the occasional polar bear, and a time of water hunting. While traveling back to Nanortalik we were nearly stuck in the ice. After capturing the image of Lulu pushing ice away, I put down the camera and assisted in the escape back to town. 30 minutes later we were free and on our way home.
Qujanaq to Sarah Woodall at Visit South Greenland and the number of lovely people met along the way. Their pace of life, generosity, and the beautiful landscape that they thrive in are memories that I’ll never forget.
